Merge master living energy orb is a puzzle to me - there seems to be no indication as to how to use it, any help would be appreciated?

After building (or buying) a complete orb you can use it by double tapping on it. It will permanently add 2 to your to the maximum energy level and restore your energy. I wasted my first one because I used it before I was low on energy.
