Best and New Cozy Mobile Games to Play in May 2026
May arrives on the back of a busy spring for cosy mobile, with NEOWIZ's Cats & Soup sequel landing globally on April 28 and a clutch of merge-led, farm-led, and crossword-led releases all hitting within days of each other. That carries the genre into May with plenty to play right now, a major Apple Arcade update mid-month, and a pair of bigger releases sitting on the horizon.
The standout for cosy fans this month is Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe, the long-awaited sequel that turns the original idle loop into a merge game. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is also lined up for a major Apple Arcade content drop on May 13. And further out, Bilibili Games' Lumi Master has soft-launched in a handful of markets ahead of its global summer release, while HoYoverse's Petit Planet is deep into beta testing.
Below the new and upcoming releases, we've also pulled together a section on the cosy mobile mainstays still worth your time in May — the older games that are still actively updated and earning their place on a player's home screen.
Here's the full list.

Recently Launched and Gaining Ground
Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe
Release: 28 April 2026 (global)
NEOWIZ launched the official sequel to Cats & Soup globally on April 28, available everywhere except China, Vietnam, and Russia. The original Cats & Soup has racked up over 80 million downloads since 2021, and Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe is the first full follow-up from the same team at HIDEA.
The big change is the gameplay loop. Where the original was an idle tycoon, Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe is built around merging — combine ingredients to unlock magical recipes, earn Wishing Stars, and use those to build out a shared cat house. There are over 100 cats to collect, outfits to dress them in, and the same warm visual style fans of the first game already know.
Launch events include a Sticker Book Season 1 collection event, a Sunny Garden and Cat Event, and a Special Sign-in Event. Pre-registrants and launch-day players also get the Calico Latte and Cherry Blossom Shorthair cats as welcome gifts. The game supports six languages: Korean, English, Japanese, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Spanish.
Hearthside: A Teeny Tiny Game
Release: 21 April 2026

Stockholm studio Short Circuit Studio (Teeny Tiny Town, Townsfolk, Teeny Tiny Trains) released Hearthside on iOS and Android on April 21, following a March beta phase. It's a cosy merge city-builder set in a medieval village, played out on a deliberately limited board.
The loop is straightforward — place tiles, merge three or more matching pieces, and watch them evolve into cottages, landmarks, and a settlement gathered around the hearth. The board's size is the design's main pressure point: every placement has to set up the next merge, and a cluttered layout will choke off chains. There's an endless mode, multiple board sizes, leaderboards, and achievements with Game Center support on iOS.
Three weeks in, the game has settled into one of the more thoughtful cosy releases of the spring, with Pocket Gamer drawing comparisons to Dorfromantik and Kingdomino. If you're heading into May looking for something that scratches a low-stress strategy itch in five-minute sessions, this is a strong pick.
Animal Farm Life: Cozy Sim
Release: 23 April 2026 (global)

Sparkling Society Games' Animal Farm Life: Cozy Sim hit its global launch on April 23, after a phased rollout in earlier weeks. You start with a small patch of land and slowly build it out — barns, production buildings, decorations, and over 50 different 3D-animated farm animal breeds spanning cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, ducks, and more.
The pace is deliberately slow. There are no timers pushing you along, and offline play is supported, which makes it a useful one for a commute. Crops grow into milk, eggs, and other farm products that you sell to expand. Building placement is fully open — you decide where everything goes and how the farm comes together.
Sparkling Society runs limited-time events for seasonal decorations and exclusive rewards, which gives the otherwise relaxed loop a reason to log back in. The first month should bring its first full event cycle for global players.
Hatch Dragons
Release: 4 March 2026 (global)

New Zealand studio Runaway Play (Pondlife, Bunny Haven) released Hatch Dragons on iOS and Android on March 4, and the game has gathered serious momentum in the weeks since — over 740,000 downloads tracked on Android alone within its first month, with a 4.7-star user rating across both stores.
The premise sits firmly in Runaway's wheelhouse: a cosy collection sim with a Nordic-folklore twist. You play alongside Liv the Elf, lifting fog from an enchanted forest by hatching dragons. Mix elements, gems, and other materials to summon over 100 unique dragons, then feed and raise them into bonded companions. Each one has its own evolution path and lore entry, with rare and seasonal varieties tied to limited-time events.
May is a particularly active month for Hatch Dragons. The Mother's Day event is currently live, with new dragon designs themed around a mother's warmth, alongside the Sunlit Spines event and the Moonshard Taurus zodiac dragon. If you're easing into the genre or just want something gentle to dip into, this is one of the most polished cosy mobile launches of the year so far.
Cozy Crosswords
Release: April 2026
A small-scale crossword puzzler from indie developer Mulberry Tree Games, built deliberately around a single design idea: each puzzle is a five-word crossword tied to one clue, solved by dragging letter tiles into place. There are 250 clues and over 500 different crosswords in the package, plus a daily randomly generated puzzle with an online leaderboard.
Customisation is unusually deep for the format — over 40 background colours, multiple tile colours and tilesets, different tile shapes, and a variety of fonts. Achievements unlock new tilesets with curated colour palettes. Difficulty is adjustable across easy, normal, and hard.
Note: Cozy Crosswords is iOS-only, paid up front, with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no power-ups. If you've been looking for a calm word puzzler without the usual mobile clutter, this is a clean pick going into May.
Coming in May
Hello Kitty Island Adventure – Update 2.16 (May 13)
Platform: Apple Arcade (mobile lead, with PC and console following later)
The biggest cosy mobile content drop confirmed for May is Hello Kitty Island Adventure's version 2.16 update, scheduled for Apple Arcade release on May 13. Sunblink runs major content updates roughly every six weeks, with Apple Arcade getting them first under the game's launch platform deal — Switch, PC, and PlayStation typically follow one to three updates later.
Specific 2.16 contents have not been detailed by Sunblink at the time of writing, but the standard cadence brings a new main quest, at least one new island visitor, a new feature tied to the main quest, plus quality-of-life changes. The update lands shortly after the City Town DLC, which released across all platforms on April 16 — adding a substantial new area that had been sitting in Apple Arcade for the better part of two years before its wider rollout.
For Apple Arcade subscribers, this is the clearest "next thing to play" pick on the May calendar. If you've stepped away from the island, mid-May is the moment to dip back in.
Cosy Mobile Mainstays Still Worth Your Time
Beyond the new and upcoming, a handful of older cosy mobile games are still very much alive — actively updated, well populated, and worth keeping on your home screen as you head into May. Here are five mainstays still earning their spot.
Travel Town
Moon Active's Travel Town has held its ground as one of the most consistently active cosy merge games on mobile, currently sitting around the top ten in Google Play's grossing puzzle chart. The core loop is straightforward — match items, combine them into upgraded versions, and use the chain to rebuild a town that's been hit by a storm — but the steady cadence of limited-time events keeps the long game interesting for returning players. One current event, Baz's Quest: Map of Hidden Wonders, runs through May 14, and features loads of rewards for you to collect in your journey.
Cats & Soup (the original)
If Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe sounds like your kind of game but you'd rather try the predecessor first, the original Cats & Soup is still going strong four years on, with over 80 million downloads and a steady stream of seasonal updates from NEOWIZ and HIDEA. The current Spring 2026 Flower Kingdom update brought a Wisteria Forest theme, the Spring Flower Dragon companion, and the limited-time Lilac Tabby cat. There's also a major Sanrio crossover live as of April 9, with Cinnamoroll, Pompompurin, and Pochacco visiting the soup-making forest, plus a limited collaboration mini-room and exclusive costumes. Idle tycoon at heart — the cats keep working while you're away.
Stardew Valley

The cosy mobile benchmark, full stop. ConcernedApe's Stardew Valley has been on iOS and Android since 2019, brought up to parity with PC version 1.6 in November 2024, and is currently on 1.6.15.2 (last updated late March 2026). It's a paid app at £4.99 / $4.99 with no in-app purchases and no ads — buy once, play forever. The mobile version covers everything: 50+ hours of single-player content, the Meadowlands farm type, festivals, the Mastery system, late-game content, and quality-of-life improvements added across the 1.6 cycle. Multiplayer isn't supported on mobile, but everything else is intact. If you've never picked it up on phone, May is as good a month as any.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete
The paid offline successor to Nintendo's free-to-play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, released in December 2024 after the original's servers shut down. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete strips out the live service, the in-app purchases, and the always-online requirement, leaving you with a one-time-purchase version of the campsite-management sim and seven years' worth of items, animal villagers, and event content. Events from the original game cycle on a four-year rotation through 2028. Custom designs from Animal Crossing: New Horizons on Switch can be imported by Creator ID. If you missed the original or stepped away years ago, this is the cleanest way back in — no subscription, no Leaf Tickets, no FOMO.
Cozy Caravan
Brisbane-based 5 Lives Studios brought Cozy Caravan to Apple Arcade on January 8, 2026, after a long Steam Early Access period that earned a 95% positive user rating. You play a Guild Rookie travelling Harvestvale in a caravan pulled by a giant bumblebee called Rigby, alongside your best friend Bubba — crafting goods through tactile mini-games, setting up market stalls on weekends, and helping locals with quests. The 1.0 build wraps up the Whizz Bang Fair storyline, and post-launch updates have been adding Daily Rewards outfits and quality-of-life features. Apple Arcade exclusive on mobile, no ads, no in-app purchases.
On the Horizon
Lumi Master
Expected: Summer 2026 (global)
Bilibili Games announced Lumi Master on April 23, opening global pre-registration on the App Store and Google Play. The game soft-launched the same day in the United Kingdom, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines, with the global rollout planned for Summer 2026.
It's a monster-collection game with a cosy frame — over 100 creatures called Lumis to capture across forests, deserts, and volcanic regions, each with its own evolution path. Capture is built around a card-based system with high encounter rates, designed to feel low-stress rather than grindy. There's a home management layer where Lumis handle production while you're offline, mini-games like whack-a-mole and cake-sharing, and global trading so players can swap Lumis to complete their collections.
The competitive side comes from multiplayer battles built around elemental counters and team synergy, with Bilibili pitching the matches as fast and free of pay-to-win stat gaps. Pre-registration milestones include in-game cosmetic and currency rewards, with a Nintendo Switch 2 sweepstake drawn from registrants if total signups hit one million.
Petit Planet
Expected: 2026 (global, no firm date)
HoYoverse's first move into cosy is well underway. Petit Planet kicked off its second closed beta — the Stardrift Test — on April 21, running on PC, iOS, and Android. It's the studio's biggest test phase yet, introducing new Neighbours, an enhanced Starsea Voyage, and expanded activities at the Galactic Bazaar including bonfires, dancing, fortune-telling, coffee meetups, and auctions.
The premise is gentle. You play a Planet Tender on your own small planet within the Starsea, with planets gradually connecting into a wider galaxy. Day-to-day play covers farming, fishing, cooking, decorating your home, and spending time with the fuzzy Neighbours who settle on your world. The Galactic Bazaar is the social hub, designed for shared activities and chance encounters with other players.
A previous closed beta ran in November 2025 under the name Coziness Test. The Stardrift Test is invite-only, with sign-ups handled through the official site. There's no global release date yet, but the testing cadence and the scope of what's being added each round suggests HoYoverse is moving towards a launch in the back half of 2026.

That covers the cosy mobile picture as we head into May. We'll be back at the end of the month with whatever lands in the meantime — and Hello Kitty Island Adventure's 2.16 drop on May 13 is the one to watch on the in-month calendar, with Petit Planet sitting at the top of the longer-term watch list.
