Why is there a flashing red exclamation point on the card album? I click everywhere and cannot see why it is alerting me or where I can click to claim something

It will have an ! On the tab in the album. It may be that you need to scroll to show a hidden part of a merge chain.

I think the exclamation mark shows you the cards that are new. Once you've opened the tab with the new card and have viewed it the exclamation mark goes away.
