Poppy Playtime Chapter 1 Walkthrough

Poppy Playtime is a survival horror game from MOB Games. It is based over a number of chapters and features a range of characters and locations to encounter and puzzle-based gameplay to complete.

Chapter 1 is set in the abandoned toy factory of Playtime Co. at you used to work at. Many years ago the other staff still working there mysteriously disappeared and now you have returned to the scene to solve the mystery. You can play this game on Mobile and also PC or Nintendo Switch.

Note: This game is rated Teen with warnings for blood and violence

Chapter 1 - A Tight Squeeze

In this chapter you will explore the abandoned factory which is now home to sinister possessed toys that want to 'play' with you. You will need to stay clear of them and defeat Poppy Playtime Huggy Wuggy who wants to hug you to death.

Your objective for this chapter is to survive the night in the factory. To do this you will need to use the GrabPack kit to help you solve puzzles and you will need to avoid Huggy Wuggy as you wander the hallways.

During the play through you will also discover Poppy (of Poppy's Playtime) and be able to collect 5 collectible VHS tapes. These are not required to complete the game but are worth getting if you can for more story information.

Chapter 1 Walkthrough

After starting a new game you will watch the video introducing you to Poppy the 'Real Girl' doll. Followed by the mysterious message from the former employees of the factory. Are they still in here somewhere?

You then find yourself in the entrance lobby of the factory. This is a first person perspective game, you can use the Joystick control on the left to move around the room and swipe the rest of the screen to look in any direction. There is also a jump button on the lower right. Get used to the movement controls.

To the right of the desk is a Gift Shop where you can see the remnants of the stock that as there. And on the left side is the Security room.

Move towards the front reception desk in the center a look for a green VHS tap on the right. Approach this and you will collect it. You can tap the Pause button on the top right and look at your 'Items' to see this in your inventory.

Now look in the corner to the right of the desk. There is a TV on the wall and below it a green Video player on a shelf. Approach the player and the video will be inserted and begin playing. You will then hear the announcement about the security measures in the factory.

Now go to the room on the right to explore the gift shop. This is mostly empty boxes but you will see a toy train still moving around a track on the ceiling. This is a clue.

Next move through to the Security room on the left. There is a locked door with a color core keypad. The clue for this is the train. The train colors can look a little different as it moves around but they are as below.

Code:

Open the doors with the code and enter the security office. You can then collect a second blue video cassette from a desk on the left and watch it on the blue player on the right. This will introduce you to the GrabPack tool and how to use it. The panel to the left of the TV will then open and you can collect the GrabPack.

You now have a Blue hand tool that you can use to interact with things in the game.

Go back to the reception desk and move to the room behind the turn styles. The door at the back is shut but you can use the blue hand tool to hit the blue hand light above it and open the door. Look directly at it and tap the Blue hand icon to launch the hand.

Enter the large lobby area and you will see the large statue of Huggy Wuggy. You can approach the sign below the statue to read about Huggy and hear the theme song of the best selling toy that will never stop hugging you.

The lobby has 7 doors arranged around the wall that will lead to different areas of the factory. First look to the left to see another doorway with a lighted blue had above it. Use the GrabPack tool to hit this and you will see a spark move on the wire to the Power room on the left.

The Power door is locked but if you look back at the Huggy Status you will see that it now has a yellow key in the raised hand. Use the Grab Pack again here to collect the key. You can now approach the Power room and go in.

Notice to the right is a power node in a cage that has the number 2 next to it. Walk around the room to the back until you find a panel with a handle as below.

Then use the GrabPack hand to hold the handle on the panel and then pull the door off. Inside is a Power supply marked number 1. Use the Blue hand on this to attach to it. You will see the 'arm' light up.

Without releasing the hand walk back through the room and past the other power poles that are in the floor. You should be able to walk round to the pole by the power node in the cage. When you reach it the power will connect and turn on the system.

You can now leave the room and return to the door with the blue had above it. Notice that the Giant Huggy has disappeared.

Use the GrabPack to open the door and move through into the 'Make a Friend' area.

At the end of the corridor you will need to go through a door on the left and into another dark corridor with a blue floor. Go through the door at the end.

In the room there is another video player and some stairs, you first need to go up the stairs to the top and find a balcony overlooking a store room.

On the floor is a blue glowing box that you need to collect, use the blue grab hand on this to pick it up. Then approach the console in the center to place it there. You now need to find 3 more of these boxes to complete the colors.

To the left of the panel is a broken gap in the railing that you can step through and drop down to the ground level of the store room.

You now need to search the room for the 3 colored boxes. I could easily see yellow and red on the floor, and then found the green one on the floor behind a shelf unit, they may not be in the same positions for you as the spawn randomly in the room. Check on shelves and behind them as well to find them all.

VHS Tape: The third tape can also be found in this room. Move to the left from where you dropped down and then walk to the left of the large shelf to see it on the shelf behind it.

Now make your way to the large door with a yellow handle and use the hand to open it to move back to the previous room. You can then play the tape on the blue player here if you want to.

Go back up to the balcony and add the 3 boxes to the control panel. A red hand tool is delivered to the conveyor below. Approach this and you will collect it and it will add to your GrabPack as a new tool.

Now you have 2 hands you can open the small door at the end of the conveyor belt that has 2 hand buttons above it. Use each tool on the correct colored hand button.

Pass through the hatch and move forward down the ramp of the belt. When you get to the bottom there is another closed hatch blocking your passage, but there are also 2 side passages to check out.

First enter the first passage on the right and follow it around to the left to find small ramp up to a center area. Go up this ramp to the top and look down to the right to see a power node (No. 1) as before. You should then use one of the hands on this to connect to it.

Once done turn to the left to see a power pole on the rollers. Go down here on the left side of the pole. Then walk back out to the right to find a second power node (No 2). Fire the other hand at this to complete the connection.

The door at the end opens and you will be transported through. When the ride on the conveyor ends you will have finally reached the Make a Friend Room.

The machine needs power so first turn to the right and go up the stairs to the cat walk at the top. You will pass a pink Video player. To make your way across the catwalk you will need to use a hand to pull floor sections over and close the gap.

Video Tape: Collect a pink tape from the catwalk and you can play it on the pink player.

You now need to connect up another circuit. You will see the power node No1 on the catwalk after crossing the first gap.

The second node is on the far side of the catwalk, you need to connect them together and also loop the arms around the 2 power poles that are in the center of the catwalk.

Steps

1. Make sure the center bridge section is on the far side, nearer to node 2.
2. Walk to the end of the catwalk away from node 1 and fire your hand at it to start the connection.
3. Move to the left and walk to the right of the first pole in the center, you don't want to wrap around this one yet.
4. Then walk forward and go around the second pole on the right and then around so that you wrap the arm around the pole then double back to the first one.
5. You can now walk across the middle walkway to the far side, it will look something like the image below.
6. Finally attack the other hand to Node 2 and complete the circuit.

With that done you can drop down and assemble a toy. Interact with the red button on the sign, and then turn to the left and use the hands to pull 3 large levers.

After some time the toy will be assembled for you can collect it on the right side. Turn to find a sign saying 'Nobody Leaves Without a Toy' and place the toy on the platform on the right of it.

You can now exit the room. Move forward into the dark doorway, Huggy Wuggy will appear here and if he catches you then it is game over. (you will reload at the same point in the game).

To escape from Huggy you need to turn quickly and run back into the room. Head to the right to the door where you collected he toy, it is now open. This takes you into another series of passages, make your way though and every time Huggy appears turn and run away.

Keep following the passages that open until you reach a catwalk section which is a dead end. Above you is a yellow crate with hand prints on it. Use the GrabPack to pull it down. This will take care of Huggy Wuggy.

Next you just need to follow the catwalk to the door with the flower around it.

Video Tape: The final tape can be found here and the player for it is to the right at the end of the catwalk.

Go through the poppy door and follow the hallway until you find a glass case. Use the GrabPack hand to open this and find Poppy the doll inside. Now that you have freed Poppy and escaped Huggy you have completed Chapter 1. Congratulations.
