When attacking in Steel and Flesh 2, you can have the option to auto fight but you can do better if you fight yourself and you will need to fight in the arena to earn gold.

There are several different options with combat, you can fight on foot or on horseback and you have a range of weapons available to you. Below is a list of hints for many of these.

Hints and tips for Combat

When fighting on foot with a melee weapon either 1 handed or 2 you will be striking the enemy and also have a button to shield or block. Your attacks can take some time to complete the animation even after striking and doing damage. Tapping the shield button to block will cancel this animation and can then allow you to make another attack more quickly. If done well this can prevent or reduce the attacks from your enemy so you can quickly take them out. This is very useful in the arena.

Spears (one handed melee) tend to do good damage and have a short animation time so can be used quickly. Two-handed melee (axes) are slower but do very high damage. Using the tip above to cut the animation short will help you make fast powerful attacks.

Jousting on horseback is a also good way to do lots of damage and can earn you a lot of EXP, it is also a common combat option in the arena. To joust effectively keep moving and hold the shield up to give you a cross hair target for your lance to help you aim. You can strike enemies both on and off of horseback.

When fighting on horseback it can help a lot to adjust your camera / view to as far back as possible. this will let you see more of the battlefield and help you spot enemies to either side.

Archery (Bows and Crossbows) is probably the lease effective form of combat although it can be easy to do. This can be done on foot or on horseback. In general you will just need to practice tour aim and keep firing while backing away from any opponent to keep out of their range. If there are any enemy archers in the battle prioritize killing them first as they will pose the greatest danger. Archery hits do not do a lot of damage so it can take time to take out each enemy this way.
