Why do I have to face opponents ranked so much higher than me in pvp?

Why do I have to face opponents ranked so much higher than me in pvp? Example: I’m silver wolf and I’m have to face ppl with the gold claw and lion one even higher?
The higher rankings of opponents can be difficult when facing many that are higher, do not let that discourage you. The higher the ranking of any opponent that you kill, the higher the reward for killing them. The opposite is true for a player with a lower ranking. Today I killed a bronze scorpion and only received 10 points. (I'm ranked a silver bear (claw). But when I kill an opponent that is ranked a lion, I recieve 57 points. Also, the harder a match is, the more rank points you can get at the end with the highest being 100 points.
