Match ranking depends on kill points not the number of kills. The scoring is based on strength of field. If you’re a gold wolf and kill a copper scorpion, your kill points will be low due to the fact you killed a weaker opponent. If you turn around and take out a silver bear, they’ll be much higher due to the fact it was a stronger opponent. At the end of the match, all the points for each of your kills are tallied for an ending score. Long story short, if you as a gold wolf kill 6 copper scorpions, and a gold wolf opponent killed 4 silver bears, his end score will be much higher, resulting in a 4 kill beating out a 6 kill for 1st place.
