We are Warriors is an interesting diversion from a lot of similar games in the tower defense genre in that it is purposelessly made to be difficult from the beginning. And because of that fact, this simple game turns out to be a lot of fun. But if you want some help with the grind through those levels, then you've arrived to the right place. Here you can find our best We are Warriors strategy and tips in this mini-guide to the game.

We are Warriors - Getting Started

There are no shortcuts to success in We Are Warriors, but if you are savvy about which upgrades you select, learn a little bit about evolving and are prepared to watch a few in-game video ads we'll have you getting to the next level in no time at all.

Progress is slow to begin with in We Are Warriors, so don't expect to complete event he first level right away, the game mechanics just don't allow it.

When you first start in the game you'll only have one unit available to you, place him on the field by tapping him when your meat counter gets high enough - expect to lose... quickly

Then you'll get coins for any enemies that you defeat, and maybe a option to watch a video ad to double those coins. It will speed up your progress if you watch the video ad, as coins are essential in leveling up and getting the upgrades that you need to get through the game.

Then it is a matter of rinse and repeat. Keep spending your coins on the speed upgrades instead of the base upgrades and as soon as you have enough unlock the more powerful units for your current level, then again, as soon as you have enough coins take the evolution option.

That should be enough to get you started, but for more in-depth tips, read on for our complete strategy guide to We are Warriors.

Now you have some basic tips to help get you started, here our best tips and strategy to get you further, faster in this simple but interesting take on the tower defense genre.

Watch the Video Ads

The video ads, as annoying as they are, are definitely useful in saving you more time in the game, than you lose watching them, use them to double your level rewards, but also to speed up the game too. Running the game at 1.5x speed is really useful, and this is also a paid option in the game, if you are heavily into it.

Unlock new units as soon as you can

Whenever you get enough coins, unlock any new units that you can. They are often much more powerful and are the cheapest and best way complete each level.

Unlock All Units
Unlock All Units

There are usually three unit types per level and usually the most expensive is the strongest, but not always the best to use in certain situations.

For example, the long range units that throw or shoot can be extremely handy in adding extra fire power, as long as you protect them, because they are usually the unit with the fewest hit points.

Dispatch units in groups

When you get the chance, save your food until you have enough to send out a group of units. For example, two melee units at the front and a ranged unit just behind. They will be more effective as a group together. So in some cases, if you have one group far ahead, and little food, it is better to let that group die so you save enough resources in order to dispatch a group, instead of sending troops out one by one as soon as you have enough food.

Get Gems and Purchase Cards

Gems are the premium currency in the game, you can get them for free in two ways.

  • By completing daily challenges when they appear at the top of the game screen.
  • By taking the offer to watch a video ad in the shop in exchange for 100 gems

With those gems, you should then purchase cards. Hit the cards icon at the bottom of the screen to spend your gems on a card. Cards will increase your power in the game, and are a great way of getting the power you need to get through more levels.

Food Production Speed is Much More Important than Base Health

At least in the beginning, you really don't need to bother with increasing base health. Your coins are best spent on increasing your food production speed, then unlocking new units, and then evolving. However, while everything resets for after an evolution, you do maintain the same base health that you had previously.

Protect your weaker and more expensive range units with melee

Kind of touched on this tip above, but those second and third units that you unlock in a level really need to be protected. Whether that be sending them out in a group, or sending in the melee unit to arrive to the battle in front of them. Protect them as best you can. In some rounds once you have unlocked enough speed and the second unit you can just send out that second unit (the fast shooter) and they can often handle the first few waves without protection. Then you just have to decide to either let them die or send in more melee units to run in front of them and give them protection so they can last longer.

Aim to Evolve

At some point in every adding more food production speed doesn't really make too much difference, at that point it's a good idea to start to focus on the evolve requirement, and to perhaps stop spending your coins after each level.

Evolution cost

The quickest way to do this is to watch the ad to get the 1.5x speedup, then after every level watch the ad to double your points. This will save you speed up time too because the counter only goes down while you are in gameplay.

Connect Your Account to Save Progress

Once you get a few levels into the game you get reminded to connect your account to save your progress. Probably a good idea if you intend to continue playing this game.
