Gamer reviews for ZigZag
Test your Reflexes with ZigZag
From the folks over at the wonderfully named Ketchapp- creators of such instant classics as Stick Hero, Don't Touch the Spikes and 2048, comes this aptly title gem: Zigzag.
Zigzag is free to play and offers no in-app purchases, but if you plan to keep it in your collection, opt for the ad-free option and hand over $1.99. Without paying to remove the ads, they will, almost ironically, interfere with your game at a certain point by slapping an ad over your course and killing your run. It's almost like they knew...
This game is another one that falls into the "so simple, it's complicated" group. The basic idea is this: keep the ball on the track as long as possible, collect gems, buy new balls. Repeat. The trick to it is that the ball makes a sharp angle every time the screen is tapped, which would be unfortunate if your track was straight, but it isn't! The path you must follow is conveniently riddled with W's, M's, and V's.
The graphics are animated in the same slick, clean style that has endeared us to the rest of the Ketchup apps thus far and the game is virtually silent except a soft ding as your ball rebounds off of a wall and a techno-sounding trill as your ball plummets from the track.
The game is a new take on a puzzle game and we definitely approve of that. The ball is almost mesmerizing and often beating a high score isn't even noticed until well after the cold mistress of gravity steals your ball away. Ketchupp just released an update with some fan-demanded fixes, like more colors of everything. Have your voice heard is pretty awesome, so we definitely appreciate both the listener as well as the fan who asks relevant questions.
We gave the gave 4.5 out of 5. The game has an awful ad infestation, but there is a cure; so, we only took away half of a star.
