All you need to do to get adopted is to go into the house in the town. Once you claim the house, the owner will be there and ready for you. Sorry about the trees... that must be a glitch.

You need to get to level 15 and then you need to have the opposite gender of same breed of dog in your pack then go next to that dog and press the button that says breed. Hope that helped
