Gamer reviews for Stickman Soccer 2014
Enjoy a Soccer League with Stickman Soccer
Feel the glory of scoring great goals with Stickman Soccer, the arcade style sports game by Djinnworks. Take a shot at taking your own team to the world stage which taking on every team that dares to stand in your way.
Stickman Soccer gears an action packed experience of the real game, arcade styled, and all at an exhilaratingly fast pace. The game sports intuitive controls to fluidly respond to touch screen devices to perform those tight manoeuvres, skilful slides, and perfect timings of a shot. Manual and Automatic run features are available too and come in handy for both seasoned and unseasoned gamers alike.
As well as the usual quick start mode, there is also a training mode which is a good place to start to get accustomed to how the game plays and also a penalty mode to practise your shootout skills.
You'll probably find yourself playing the quick start mode the most which is basically a single tournament. Other modes get unlocked as you win matches and perform some miscellaneous tasks. These unlockable modes include the short season where you take part in a tournament of 10 teams over nine elimination rounds, upon winning this, you'll unlock the long season which is the same elimination type of tournament but houses 40 teams instead of 10. From there on, you'll unlock several more modes like the different sponsored international cups. Choose your team among the wide selection of national soccer teams and climb your way up to the ranks as you compete in the seasonal matches, and the variety of cups.
Controls in the game are relatively simple. For the easy to medium difficulty, the Automatic feature could breeze you through the matches given that you picked a team with superior potentials compared to the given competitors. Your roster of players will automatically run towards the net. Tapping once at a selected midfielder will pass the ball to that player and tapping to the goal will perform a shot by the player holding the ball. The Manual control over the game is suggested though for higher levels of difficulty. This will enable you to do specific patterns of passes and add some nifty controls to your players like tap-holding the screen to take a harder shot or to tackle an opponent.
There is some in-game advertising which appear on the screen whenever you play a match, however these can sometimes be temporarily removed by watching three consecutive video ads (that will take a maximum of just a minute of your time), you’ll be able to play the game for 2 hours without the in-game ads. We think however that overall the advertising in the free version is not too intrusive. You may also unlock several modes and tourneys by purchasing a Pro version of the game for a few bucks.
In conclusion, Stickman Soccer offers a simpler way to play the game, when you compare it to the likes of the Fifa Soccer series, this is not a bad thing, especially when you consider the likes of Sensible Soccer of the 90's. The game has a responsive user interface and a dependable AI to compete with. The casual game packs a heavy replay value and serves as a reminder that a noteworthy game doesn't always have to rely on flashy graphics as this game is presented plainly with stickman visuals yet delivers a great game overall.
