I asked Nordcurrent, game creators, this question. They replyed: Kindly note that the opponents are matched by the maximum damage available to a player.

It doesn't matter which rifle is used to enter a battle, the matching will be done by the strongest rifle available to the player.

Bots matching depends on a player's armor – the more armor, the stronger bots. It is not possible to reduce the maximum available damage/armor values.
