Nier Reincarnation is an action RPG for the mobile platform set in the same universe as the original Nier and its sequel Nier: Automata. The game was originally launched in Japan in February 2021, with its “global” release on July 28. Unfortunately, the game is currently not available for users in Southeast Asia, China, Russia, and Saudi Arabia. Nier Reincarnation is developed by Applibot and published by Square Enix for Android and IOS.

Please be reminded that Tier Lists are not “definite” measures of the character’s strength and potential. There are a lot of factors to be considered like the characters’ availability, their synergy with your team, their utility, equipment, etc. As such, please use our tier lists as what they’re meant to be - a guide. Use tier lists to help you decide whether you’ll want to invest resources and time to build a character. At the end of the day, it’s you who will decide which ones you’ll use based on preference and performance .

Our tier list have two categories: PvE and PvP. This is because some characters will be more effective in clearing PvE content and some characters excel in PvP combat. There are also some characters who can perform decently in both areas. For your convenience, we will be listing the S (excellent) and A (great) ranked characters for easier browsing. All high tier characters in this list are 4-stars.

Here are some of the high-tier units in the game, with brief descriptions why they’re highly-regarded. Take note however, that it doesn’t mean that other characters not featured here are bad or unusable. Your game progress and content-clearing capacity will entirely depend on the units you currently have.

Gayle (Bloody Hunter)

Gayle is an outstanding unit against single targets, capable of boosting her damage based on her combo length. Her skill, Darting Blades, allows her to deal up to 110% damage 3 times at full ascension. This is further enhanced by her Pursuit ability that increases her damage by 22% (40% at full ascension) for chain attacks of 3 or more hits. That said, Gayle can easily tear through enemies with her increasingly powerful damage output as her combo builds up.

Griff (Abstract Captain)

Griff is an exceptional unit mainly because his skill, Controlled Incineration, deals damage to all enemies while also boosting all of his allies’ ATK by 16-30% for 30 seconds. His abilities, Vigor and Ambush, increase his ATK and Crit Rate respectively, making him a very straightforward unit to build and include in your team.

The World-Ender (Divergent Lad)

The World-Ender (Divergent Lad)’s main skill Might Blitz, deals x4 35-70% damage to one enemy while also boosting the Crit Rate of all of his allies by 6% (20% at full ascension) for 30 seconds. His two abilities, Fatal and Vigor, boosts his Crit Damage and ATK respectively. He’s quite similar to Griff (Abstract Captain) with the all-party boost and offensive-stat boosting abilities. He’s a valuable unit to have nonetheless.

2B (Divergent Battler)

2B - Divergent Battler is a unit made up for straight-up duels. Her skill, Mastery Loosed Blade, deals 50% damage (100% at full ascension) five times to a single target. This damage further increases by 26-40% if your HP goes below 50%, allowing her to swiftly kill enemies as she takes damage. Her ability, Vigor and Fleetfoot, increases her ATK and Agility, further complementing her offensive prowess.

Akeha (Mechanical Assassin)

Similar to 2B - Divergent Battler, Akeha (MA)’s skill, Mastery Lily Shear, deals damage up to 5 times to a single target. This damage is further increased (up to +60% at full ascension) if your chain attack is greater than or equal to 2, for 30 seconds. Her second ability, Training, increases the chance of her attack becoming a 3-chain or more, further triggering her main skill’s effect.

2P (Mock Machine)

2P - Mock Machine is somewhat similar to 2B - Divergent Battler when it comes to their main skill’s effect. 2P’s skill, Bladed Spin, deals 60% damage (120% if fully ascended) 5 times to a single target. This damage is further increased by 35-60% if her HP is greater than or equal to 80%. Her two abilities Vigor and Ambush increases her ATK and Crit Rate, enabling her to deal even more damage.

Lars (Abstract Soldier)

Lars (Abstract Soldier) is a sword unit that focuses on single targets as well. With his skill, Judgment, he can deal 35-70% damage four times against a target, with a 20% chance to inflict stun. His ability, Pursuit, enables him to deal more damage by performing 3 or more chain attacks while his other ability, Fleetfoot, increases his agility.

A2 (Divergent Attacker)

A2 - Divergent Attacker is a single-target specialist. With her main skill, Bludgeon Multistrike, she can deal up 130% damage (at full ascension) four times to target. This skill also increases her critical damage up to 40% (at full ascension). Her abilities, Vigor and Ambush, increases her ATK and Crit Rate
