If you haven't already, please report this to the game developers so that they know about the problem. Check the support page for the contact details for them outside of the game.

The game is currently being played by two people in our house. Both have the same issues. It seemed to have become almost impossible to play with any fun over the last month. Updates will not help. The game developers seem to have stuffed up their programming. Don't hold your breath waiting for any improvements - fixing bugs like this are put into the too hard file. Suggestion - find a new game.
