Long before robots and giant spaceships have become popular among kids, there has always been a group of fighters who have never ceased to amaze people despite their simplicity. These are the Ninjas, fighters who are masters of tactical espionage and who are capable of sending out attacks at blinding speed. As assassins, Ninjas are required to perform swift and instant deathstrikes to their targets to ensure the completion of a mission. And to do this, Ninjas carry out their killer blow with their single best asset—their speed.

With a focus on the Ninja’s amazing skill with speed, players are given the chance to become a ninja—one of the world’s greatest fighters—in Speedy Ninja, developed by NetEase Games. The game is free to install but it does have some in-app purchase available, which are not at all blatantly advertised or enforced. These In-App Purchases are more on the ability to buy additional Jade, Silver, or Fish—the game’s primary currencies. Despite it being a free game, ads are not to be a problem.

As the title implies, the game heavily focuses on a ninja’s speed. More specifically, gameplay is all about how players are able to cover the largest distance while swiftly avoiding a myriad of obstacles—flying bats, bouncing razor eyeballs, bamboo missiles, etc.. In order to avoid such hurdles, players will have to masterfully dodge them through up and down motions (or buttons) on the screen. But gameplay is not all about avoidance alone as it also requires players to pick up some special boosters and weapons along the way. These weapons are essential as they may help players blast enemies out of the way or give them a much-needed boost to cover a larger distance. As the players continue on throughout the game, new stages will be unlocked as soon as players reach a certain distance. As an added challenge the run becomes more difficult as the run becomes faster and more dangerous as the players progress through the game.

Speedy Ninja is a game that must be played while being connected to the internet. And the benefit of this feature is that it allows players to summon friends to continue their run in the game if ever they die in the middle of a run. There is also a daily ranking available wherein a player’s level is ranked among other players within a certain league. Once the players become part of a league, they become entitled to some bonuses too.

Apart from the ability to summon friends, players can also choose a mount to ride which will fly them away from obstacles and enter a sort of a bonus stage where players may get all the coins they could find.

Although the game is a simple endless runner game, it does not fall short in providing players carefully crafted graphics and animation that provide players the perfect ambiance suited for the gameplay. The layout of the main dashboard, however, could be improved as it may seem overwhelming with so much icons and things to do—especially to any beginner. But still, Speedy Ninja wins in giving players a highly interactive and challenging gameplay without all the pesky ads.
