Pokemon Go has been around since 2016 when it literally took the gaming world by storm and it seemed like the whole world was playing the game.

It's been a number of years since it's release, and in 2022, it's still incredibly popular. We will be taking a look at how to play Pokemon GO in 2022, how to get started playing Pokemon GO in 2022.

Also check us out for details on how to make special evolutions such as how to evolve Nosepass, what we think about holding multiple gyms, the best ways to earn free coins, and loads more.

Let's start off with some general getting started tips for playing Pokemon GO in 2022.

Pokemon GO Tips 2022

These tips are mainly aimed at beginner players new to the game in 2022, or returning after a while away.

1. Catch everything!

Even if you don't need the Pokemon, we would recommend catching, or trying to catch everything that is within you capability. If the Pokemon is just too strong for you to catch, then run away and avoid losing Pokeballs, but other than that, you should be catching everything at the beginning of the game.

2. Clear out your Pokemon

You only have a limited space in your storage to hold a certain number of Pokemon, and while you can upgrade your storage space for 200 coins via the shop, it's efficient anyway to regularly clear out any Pokemon you don't need or want.

The best way to do this is the sort by number so you ca easily see any duplicates, then get rid of any that you know you won't evolve or use because they are just too low power and you have better Pokemon of the same number.

Before removing Pokemon, you should appraise the Pokemon because often it can be the case that lower Combat Power Pokemon actually have better IV stats that higher CP Pokemon.

Personally, I prefer to keep the Pokemon with the high IV stats as opposed to the higher Combat Power Pokemon, because Combat Power is easily increased, but these base IV stats cannot be.

100% IV Pokemon - Really Rare - KEEP!

Also the last thing you really want to do is transfer a Pokemon that is 3 star - these are the best candidates for evolving or powering up. If you are really lucky you'll find a 'shundo' which is 100% stats - these are rare so make sure you favorite them to ensure they can't be transferred.

3. Play with friends and family

Pokemon GO can be a real social experience especially when enjoyed with friends and family, if you have people close to you that also enjoy gaming, Pokemon GO is a good game to share with those people. Daily gifting and gym battling and just two benefits of playing with people that you know.

4. Occupy gyms

You should aim to occupy at least one gym so that if you hold it for about 8 hours, you'll get 50 gold coins when your Pokemon is returned. This is the max amount of coins you can earn for free in Pokemon GO per day.

So while no matter how many gyms you own, you can only collect 50 coins per day, it's still worthwhile to try to capture multiple gyms because you never know when your Pokemon will be defeated and returned, so hopefully they will be defeated over a number of days and you'll be able to collect 50 coins per day.

There are no other real benefits to holding onto gyms, the stardust and EXP you earn is not much at all.

5. Don't evolve - yet!

If you are just starting out, hold off on evolving or powering up Pokemon until you have reached about level 20 more or less. If you are powering up or evolving to fulfill a quest, then ok, thats a good reason, but you probably have not caught very strong Pokemon or the best candidates for powering up evolving at this point in the game. Better to save your candies and stardust.

6. Increase your Item Storage

If you have enough gold coins you should increase your storage. In the beginning of the game you'll receive loads of revives and heals, you really want to have enough storage to hold onto all of these for when you are a higher level and need them. But you also need a lot of space for your Pokeballs and other things.

Increase your Item Storage - You'll need these items eventually, they are not always easy to get

So, really the best thing is to increase your item storage. You can get free coins by holding a gym for a number of hours. You can get max 50 coins for free a day with this method.

7. Play everyday.

You'll get bigger bonuses if you can keep a play streak going over a number of days. basically if you can go 7 days in a row, catching one Pokemon and spinning one Poke Stop each day, you'll get some decent XP, stardust and other bonuses.
